Every Thursday, my friend Nathiya of Pineapple Seed Jewelry and Emera Bags comes over and we cook, eat and take photos.  We talk about recipes and ideas and take photos of our day and the food we make. Needless to say, Thursday has become one of my favorite days of the week. We peruse cookbooks or talk about our favorite dishes from restaurants, and with the easy flow conversation we decide on a recipe for the following week.


Nathiya is a brave cook in the kitchen, she will attempt big recipes with a long list of ingredients.  I lean toward the simple recipes with a short list of ingredients. We are yin and yang in the kitchen and compliment each other, but we are both neat cooks and clean up along the way.


Since it’s summer and cherry season, Nathiya suggested we make a Spiced Cherry pie (recipe from Chez Pim). Now, I’ve never made pie in my life. Making the dough scares me, so I’ve avoided making pie all my life.  I prefer to make Crumble. Nathiya, made the pie dough and made it look simple, Emma helped with pitting the cherries and I supervised, took care of Olive and photographed the whole scene. The spices for the cherries were incredible. We all could’ve just eaten the spiced cherries and skipped the whole pie assembly. Seriously that good.  Luckily, we had will power, assembled the pie and put it in the oven to bake. I don’t think I can just eat regular old cherry pie any longer. Spiced Cherry Pie, FTW.


We are hoping to blog weekly about our Thursdays or at least monthly.
