Film is not Dead

If you want to learn to shoot film, I highly recommend Jonathan Canlas’s new hardcover book, Film Is Not Dead.  He explains everything so well and easily.  It’s also a great refresher if you haven’t shot film in a long time. One of his best advice, that I totally agree with and take to heart, is to shoot lots of personal work. Lots.  That’s how you learn and how you develop your style. Get the book, read it, and go out and shoot.

  • One of my goals for 2012 is to read more photography-based literature. Definitely going to keep my eyes peeled for this next time I’m in a bookstore!

  • Thanks for the tip! Lots of photographers, especially you, make me want to learn to shoot film so bad… but it IS intimidating to know where to begin. I’ll definitely be getting this book 🙂

  • I love the photos that you take! I especially love the softness from your photos that are taken with Portra 400NC. Your photos on Film have Inspired my pathway into the joys of film… I only wish that I could scan them up as well as you do yours!

  • It has been 8 years since I have shot film. We recently moved to New Zealand and I acquired several film cameras to begin playing around with and when I looked for this book I found that it is only available in New Zealand in a digital edition. #facepalm
